greener, and more equitable future. DCGB seeks a Chief of Staff to
serve as a strategic partner and trusted advisor to the Chief
Executive Officer, supporting organizational leadership, strategic
planning, and execution of priority initiatives. This role is
responsible for driving cross-functional coordination,
strengthening internal operations, and ensuring alignment between
the organization’s strategic goals and day-to-day execution. The
Chief of Staff acts as an extension of the CEO, managing high-level
projects, preparing briefing materials, supporting board and
stakeholder engagement, and overseeing internal processes that
improve organizational effectiveness. The role requires strong
analytical, communication, and relationship-management skills, as
well as the ability to operate effectively across all levels of the
organization. POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES Executive & Strategic
Support Serves as a thought partner to the CEO on organizational
strategy, priorities, and decision-making. Develops briefing
documents, presentations, talking points, and background materials
for the CEO and executive leadership. Supports the CEO in preparing
for board meetings, public engagements, and key external and
internal meetings. Drafts correspondence, memos, and strategic
communications on behalf of the CEO, as appropriate. Tracks CEO
priorities and ensures timely follow-through on key decisions and
action items. Organizational Strategy & Planning In collaboration
with the executive team, supports the development and execution of
annual strategic plans and organizational goals. Monitors progress
on strategic initiatives and prepares regular updates for
leadership and the Board. Helps translate high-level strategy into
actionable plans, timelines, and deliverables across departments.
Identifies risks, dependencies, and opportunities related to
organizational priorities and recommends solutions.
Cross-Functional Coordination & Operations Drives coordination
across departments to ensure alignment, accountability, and
effective execution of priority initiatives. Facilitates executive
team meetings, including agenda development, meeting preparation,
and follow-up on action items. Improves internal processes,
workflows, and communication to increase efficiency and
organizational effectiveness. Partners with senior leadership to
support change management efforts and organizational growth. Board
& Stakeholder Engagement Supports Board relations, including
preparation of board materials, meeting logistics, and follow-up.
Coordinates with external partners, government stakeholders, and
funders as directed by the CEO. Helps manage sensitive or
high-priority stakeholder relationships with discretion and
professionalism. Special Projects & Analysis Leads and manages
special projects as assigned by the CEO, often involving complex,
cross-functional work. Conducts research and analysis to inform
executive decision-making. Prepares reports, dashboards, and
summaries that synthesize data and insights for leadership.
Requirements: EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE Bachelor’s degree in Public
Administration, Business Administration, Public Policy, Finance,
Communications, or a related field required Master’s degree
(preferred) in Public Administration, Business, Public Policy, or a
related discipline Minimum of 7–10 years of progressively
responsible professional experience, including experience working
closely with senior leadership Experience in government, finance,
sustainability, or mission-driven organizations preferred
COMPETENCIES Technical Strong strategic planning and project
management skills Excellent written and verbal communication
skills, including drafting executive-level materials Ability to
analyze complex information and translate it into clear
recommendations Experience supporting board relations and executive
leadership Strong facilitation and meeting management skills High
level of discretion and judgment when handling sensitive
information Proficiency with Microsoft Office and

professionalism at all times. OTHER REQUIREMENTS Ability to perform
computer-based tasks for extended periods of time Ability to work a
hybrid schedule, including three days in the Washington, DC office
(Tuesday–Thursday) and two days remote (Monday and Friday) This
role may require periodic local travel throughout Washington,
DC
