Job Description Job Description Geodesicx, Inc. is searching for
a PNT Engineer/SME that can provide expert level technical support
to the ground Global Positioning System (GPS)/Assured Positioning,
Navigation and Timing (A-PNT) Modernization efforts managed by
Marine Corps Systems Command and their technical team at Naval
Information Warfare Center Atlantic. Major Duties /
Responsibilities : Develop system and reference architectures for
expeditionary APNT within mounted, dismounted, and C2 environments.
Develop user requirements and technical specifications for
expeditionary APNT capabilities. These products may be used in
RFPs, ECPs, and other contractual actions to guide product
development and expected performance of a vendor’s products.
Develop / author deliverables in the form of technical papers and
technical briefs required to convey information, interpret data,
and provide courses of action to decisionmakers. Perform market
analysis/technical assessments of new and emerging, commercially
available APNT capabilities, including anti-jam antennas,
distribution hubs, and various mission essential accessories.
Support Source Selection activities by evaluating proposals and
responses to RFPs and RFIs. Mentor government and contractor staff
on PNT / NAVWAR related topics. Providing SME support on APNT
system integration within/on military platforms and with PNT
dependent client systems. Provide SME oversight on the development
and testing of PNT technologies/systems to ensure systems satisfy
requirements and their effectiveness and/or limitations are known
in contested environments. Write Test Incident Reports (TIRs) and
participated in forums / activities where solutions are
sought/explored. Conduct / participate in modeling and simulation
activities on APNT capabilities/systems. Provide advanced knowledge
and expertise across the full spectrum of navigation warfare,
including planning, execution, and mitigation, such as: Operational
planning and support: If required, deploy to support combatant
commanders by providing real-time NAVWAR expertise. Vulnerability
assessments: Evaluate military platforms and systems to identify
vulnerabilities to jamming, spoofing, and other NAVWAR threats.
Mitigation strategies: Develop, test, and implement technologies
and procedures to protect friendly forces from PNT attacks.
Offensive operations: Advise on tactics to deny, degrade, or
deceive an adversary's access to PNT data. Technology evaluation:
Assess new technologies for PNT resilience, such as advanced
anti-jam antennas, multi-sensor integration, and alternative PNT
solutions. Testing and training: Assist in the conduct of field
assessments and training exercises to develop tactics, techniques,
and procedures for operating in a GPS-denied or contested
environment. Interagency and coalition coordination : Collaborate
with interagency and allied partners to build a common
understanding of PNT-related challenges and coordinate responses.
Work as an active member on multiple integrated product teams
(IPTs) and working groups to collaborate and resolve issues,
develop products and courses of action, and formulate
recommendations for leadership in many functional and technical
areas such as user requirements, market research and contracting,
system development/engineering (to include platform integration and
client system interoperability activities), test and evaluation,
procurement, production, system delivery, and sustainment. Review
CDRLs from APNT vendors to ensure contract / technical compliance
and that positive progress is being made. Assist team
leadership/members in identifying and implementing process
improvement initiatives, problem-solving actions, and in gaining
consensus from senior leadership and stakeholders on solutions to
issues that may conflict with existing policies, organizational
objectives, and/or practices. Gather and apply data to determine,
update, and maintain credible and relevant metrics in support of
program objectives and decision points. Desired Knowledge, Skills,
and Abilities / Demonstrated working expertise in the following
areas : Positioning, Navigation and Timing (PNT) and Navigation
Warfare Military GPS User Equipment (MGUE) Commercial and military
GNSS user equipment and technologies Other technologies that can be
applied for military PNT as complementary or alternative PNT
sources Messaging protocols used by APNT systems and clients
Electronic Warfare (EW) – specifically, Anti-jam and anti-spoofing
methods and technologies APNT use cases within operational
environments Modeling and simulation tools and ability to provide
effective inputs Cybersecurity - understanding how to protect PNT
data streams and systems from man-in-the-middle attacks and other
cyber threats. Signal Processing – specifically, knowledge of
advanced techniques, such as those used by military-grade
receivers, to filter out interference and detect spoofed signals.
Alternative PNT (Alt-PNT) – Familiarity with non-satellite
navigation methods like inertial navigation systems (INS), atomic
clocks, and visual/lidar-based navigation. Ability and experience
in leading/operating in highly dynamic and very complex business
environments involving multiple products/projects, locations, and
operating units. Ability to articulate facts and ideas in a
convincing manner, negotiate with internal and external
stakeholders, and advise management on complex issues for decision
making. Ability to exercise critical thinking and independent
judgment dealing with urgency factors, changing requirement
priorities, and constraints. Minimum Employment Prerequisites :
College graduate with preferably a Master of Science (MS) degree in
a science, math, technology, or engineering domain and have at
least 15 years in a relevant technical field. At least five
additional years of experience can substitute for not having an MS
degree. Possess recognized PNT and NAVWAR subject matter expertise
with a deep knowledge of the military tactics and technical methods
used to control and protect PNT data in contested environments.
Demonstrated experience supporting Department of War customers that
are engaged in the development, procurement, and fielding of
modernized GPS / A-PNT equipment. Demonstrated history of positive
and routine interaction with PNT industry players, academia, the
Joint Navigation Warfare Center (JNWC), Space Systems Command
(SSC), the USAF, and other Service Program Management Offices and
labs. Able to travel frequently within CONUS (up to 10%) and able
to conduct infrequent OCONUS travel. Currently possess or have
recently held a Secret Security Clearance, and be eligible for
TS/SCI. Work Location : Remote work authorized – however, routine
travel will be required to NIWC Atlantic, North Charleston, SC;
Marine Corps Systems Command, Quantico / Stafford, VA; LA Air Force
Base, CA; Camp Pendleton, CA; White Sands Missile Range (WSMR), NM;
Cedar Rapids, IA; and other TBD locations.
