Job Description:
DescriptionSUMMARY: This position is responsible for the
supervision of the nursing staff at the 3.1 programs (to include
Nurse Practitioners, RNs and LPNs), conducting assessments and
evaluations and prescribing medication for NCTR clients. The
position works closely with the management team, physician /medical
teams and community partners.Pay starts at $160,000/ year - with
the ability to earn more based on years of experience, degrees, and
other relevant qualifications.ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Directing, overseeing all care provided by 3.1 nursing staff
including but not limited to Staffing, Scheduling, Treatment,
Medical and Assessments needs of all 3.1 clients.
- Orders, interprets, and evaluates diagnostic tests to identify
and assess client's clinical problems and health care needs.
- Discusses case with health professionals on the patient care
team to prepare comprehensive client care plan.
- Prescribes or recommends medications or other forms of
treatment such as physical therapy, inhalation therapy, or related
therapeutic procedures.
- May refer clients for consultation or to specialized health
resources for treatment.
- Review patient admissions (BPS/ASI) to confirm medical
necessity and document review in patient EHR.
- Assess and treat all biomedical disorders; when appropriate
refer to a specialist
- Consult with addiction credentialed physician, psychiatric
nurse practitioner, or collaborating physician, for consultation as
necessary
- Be available to be on call to address emergency service needs
24 hours a day, 7 days a week
- Make arrangements for pharmacology for psychiatric or
anti-addiction medications and drug screenings
- Perform MAT assessment on admission (which includes psych and
medical history) for all patients.
- Coordination with physicians in the community to review
treatment as needed to help align treatment plan goals.
- Provide medication education and management either on-site or
closely coordinated with an off-site provider
- Promote opportunities for member to be introduced to the
potential benefits of addiction pharmacotherapies as a long term
tool to manage addiction
- Identify when patients are in need of referral for a higher
level of care (ie: residential treatment) as necessary.
- Adherence to NCTR State, Federal, CARF policy, licensure and
contractual requirements.
- Experience working as a member of a leadership team to ensure
appropriate coordination between medical and clinical services to
clients.
- Responsible for coordination with physician/medical staff to
make sure medical orders are being adequately addressed.
- Maintain adequate monitoring of medication
- Maintain ethical standards and continued professional growth,
including
- Abide by Program and NCTR policy and procedures.
- Ensure all licensure, CARF and contractual standards are
instituted and maintained
- Promote, in public and private contacts, the quality standards
and ethical practices of NCTR staff
- Continue professional growth by attending workshops, trainings
and NCTR staff in-service trainings to increase skill and knowledge
and to set appropriate example for staff
- Maintain current licensure/certification including CPR, First
Aid and CES
- Maintain professional boundaries with staff and client
- Perform other duties as assigned by supervisorQUALIFICATIONS:
- Master's degree in Nursing
- Licensed in Virginia as a Nurse Practitioner
- Licensed in Virginia as a Registered Nurse
- Any additional licenses associated with substance abuse and/or
mental health, highly desired.
- Minimum three (3) years progressive nursing management
experience, nursing experience in direct patient care delivery
services.
- Strong computer skills including electronic health
records.
- Exceptional communication skills and leadership abilities
required.
- Must possess valid driver's license and safe driving
record.
- Suboxone Waiver (must obtain within 3 months of
employment)
- Autonomous practice (or eligible to obtain within 3 months of
employment)KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS:
- Experience working in a psychiatric care setting or mental
health/behavioral environment preferred. Demonstrated abilities in
nursing staff supervision
- Demonstrated ability to interact positively with the client,
patients, staff and management team.
- Nurse Practitioner manager must have the ability to
independently problem-solve.
- Working knowledge of alcohol and chemical dependency treatment
and rehabilitation programs, including 12 step programs.
- Excellent ability to work with diverse groups of
individuals.
- Possess the highest degree of professionalism.
- Professional and pleasant demeanor, able to develop rapport
quickly with an emphasis on quality customer service.
- Ability to work well with ever changing priorities and/or
situations.
- Ability to write and speak effectively.
- Ability to manage several areas of responsibility
simultaneously.
