Job Description:
MedStar Health, a leading not-for-profit healthcare organization
in the D.C.-Maryland-Virginia region, is seeking a dedicated
Lactation Consultant to join our team. Our organization is
committed to delivering exceptional care, emphasizing a
patient-first approach in all that we do. As a Lactation
Consultant, you will provide specialized support and counseling to
breastfeeding mothers and their infants. The ideal candidate will
be a compassionate, knowledgeable professional who is committed to
helping mothers achieve their breastfeeding goals while adhering to
the highest standards of healthcare. Conduct breastfeeding
assessments to determine mother and infant needs and challenges.
Develop and implement personalized lactation plans. Educate and
support mothers, families, and staff on breastfeeding best
practices. Monitor and document patient progress and adjust care
plans as needed. Collaborate with healthcare providers to ensure
integrated care delivery. Lead breastfeeding classes and support
groups. Maintain current knowledge of lactation trends and
healthcare guidelines. Expert knowledge of breastfeeding techniques
and challenges. Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
Ability to educate and empower patients. Clinical skills in patient
assessment and care planning. Proficient in documentation and
patient record-keeping. Certified Lactation Consultant (IBCLC)
BLS/ACLS Certification preferred
